Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR, also UN Human Rights) is the leading UN entity on human rights. It represents the world's commitment to the promotion and protection of the full range of human rights and freedoms set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The OHCHR was established by the UN General Assembly in December 1993 through its resolution 48/141.
OHCHR is a longstanding partner of Switzerland. The FDFA’s Peace and Human Rights Division (PHRD) provides an annual core-contribution to OHCHR (CHF 3 million in 2022). SDC complements this support, mainly through funding to OHCHR country offices and projects.
