Global Funds, Networks & Others

Besides working closely with the United Nations and the International Finance Institutes, Switzerland promotes the provision of global public goods through partnerships with international organisations in accordance to its International Cooperation Strategy 2021-2024.

In these organisations are included the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Malaria and Tuberculosis  (GFATM), the Consultative Group on International Agriculture Research (CGIAR) and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) for development purposes and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for humanitarian aid.

Established in 2002, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) is the key global fund dedicated to strengthening education systems with the aim to provide quality education for children in low-income countries.

International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)

The ICRC works worldwide to provide humanitarian aid for people affected conflict and armed violence and to promote the laws that protect  those people. The ICRC acts as a neutral, impartial and independent humanitarian actors and its most important responsibilities are: engaging a protection dialogue with all parties to the conflict, visiting detainees; reuniting separated families; distributing food and other essential items, protecting and strengthening essential infrastructure and system in the health, water, electricity, economic domain. The ICRC promotes the international humanitarian law and contributes to its development with the ambition to reduce the suffering of people in armed conflicts.
